Nurse T Hosting Caregivers Who Care Workshop
as Part of National Family Caregivers Month
In honor of National Family Caregivers Month this November, Teberah Alexander, RN, BSN (aka “Nurse T”) from Kathelene’s Adult Day Care will be hosting a Caregivers Who Care Workshop on Saturday, November 4, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Fellowship Chapel Church (7707 W. Outer Drive) in Detroit. The goal is to raise awareness for caregivers and to improve their overall life and well-being.

Over 65 million Americans care for aging or disabled loved ones, providing 90% of long-term care in the U.S.
The majority care for one relative, but 15.7 million care for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia – a devastating disease that places immense physical and emotional strain on caregivers. Caregivers of veterans also face immense pressure – 77% report sleep deprivation and 88% increased anxiety.
The event will also highlight the work of Nurse T's caregiver support organization. Nurse T's mission is to make caregiving a little easier through compassion, care and community.
"Caregiving can be incredibly difficult with little rest, constant demands and high stress," said Nurse T. "We want to honor these selfless caregivers by providing a relaxing day of rejuvenation and respite."
The workshop is open to caregivers caring for veterans, seniors or those with disabilities or chronic illnesses. The workshop will offer lunch, chair massages, makeup sessions, raffles, games, fitness activities and health screenings. Nurse T strives to provide caregivers with educational tools, workshops and referrals to help them better manage stress and navigate their caregiving journey. She believes that caring for caregivers is just as important as caring for patients. Space is limited for the Caregivers Who Care Workshop. Caregivers can register by October 25 using the form below.
